Chacham Adif MiNavi

At a Melave Malka last night, I was sitting next to someone who told me a very interesting tidbit.

A perhaps little-known fact about the life of Rabbi Shlomo Riskin is that he used to be a neighbor of the Satmar Rebbe zt"l, in Williamsburg. As a youth of about 16 or 17, he would, on occasion, run errands for the Rebbetzin.

In the aftermath of the Six-Day War, the young Shlomo Riskin asked the Rebbe - "Nu, isn't it obvious that Hashem is on the side of the Israelis?"

The Rebbe answered: "There will yet come a time when those very same people who won this war will dismantle what they gained in it."
